Forklifts, if employed properly, can be one of the most important equipment in your work area. However, accidents could nevertheless occur when operating a forklift. The men operating the forklift need to have proper forklift training for operating them to avoid such harmful accidents.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – JAXPORT’s new $30 million Intermodal Container Transfer Facility is now officially open for business.
The ICTF provides on-dock rail service to JAXPORT’s North Jacksonville seaport terminals: the Blount Island Marine Terminal and the TraPac Container Terminal at Dames Point. The direct transfer of containers between vessels and trains speeds up the shipment process, offering shippers greater options and efficiencies.
The facility was constructed with $20 million in funding from the state of Florida and $10 million in federal TIGER-grant funds.
Rail that connects to CSX Transportation’s main line allows for two unit trains each day. Ceres Rail Services is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations.
Along with the deepening of Jacksonville’s harbor to 47 feet, the ICTF is one of several major capital projects at JAXPORT aimed at serving global cargo customers, increasing efficiency and contributing to the economic vitality of Northeast Florida.

JCB’s side-entry skid steer and compact track loader design allows operators to safely enter the machine, just as they would any other piece of equipment. So, why buy a front entry model that requires you to climb over an attachment to get into and out of the machine. See JCB’s common sense, side-entry skid.
This innovative engineered machine ensures that our skid steer:
- Is the World’s safest skid steer loader.
- With 270o visibilty, is 60% better than the competition.
- Has a cab size 46% larger than the average competition on a small platform.
- Based off of the SAE Service Audit scores, has 24% better serviceability on large platforms, 21% on small platforms.
- Is the most efficient skid steer on the market, with up to 16% better fuel consumption.

Leveraging your floor and ceiling space has never been easier than with Bendi and Flexi forklifts. These lifts are versatile, very narrow aisle forklift trucks that can both work in tight spaces and also load trailers. Ergonomics and economics meet in the middle with these well designed, indoor/outdoor lifts.
The Bendi allows operators to move safely into tight spots that others can’t reach. Their true 180° steering and front-end articulation, plus patented rear-wheel drive system offer unequalled stability, traction, and control, even in full turn positions. The Bendi can also work in bulk storage and congested manufacturing areas, push-back, double-deep rack and drive-in rack systems, rail cars, and outdoors.
The Flexi model helps you increase storage capacity & reduce cost. The Flexi is a conventionally styled forklift that is easy to drive, and that works in about half the aisle of a conventional forklift. The Flexi is designed to operate in an aisle as narrow as 3’ plus the depth of the pallet. It is capable of picking both sides of the aisle from either direction and can actually leave the aisle to unload trucks at the dock.
So if you have got some tight spaces in your warehouse these lifts are a perfect fit for your operation.

EZLogic® Accumulation System
EZLogic®, or Electronic Zero-pressure Logic, is a method of zero-pressure control that combines the sensing accuracy of photo-electrics with discrete electronic logic control without the use of a PLC or pneumatic logic components. This system provides all the “intelligence” needed to accurately control the various functions of zero-pressure accumulation on a variety of conveyor models. Reduced noise, higher reliability, higher throughputs and ease of maintenance are just some of the advantages of the EZLogic® system.
The heart of the EZLogic® Accumulation System is the EZLogic® zone controller. Each controller is equipped with a photoelectric input device to detect product presence, a microprocessor to evaluate various input signals, and control connections to provide communication of data between zones and to and from outside sources. Two types of product sensing are available: A retro-reflective type which is used in conjunction with a reflector to detect packages by looking across the width of the conveyor, and a diffuse type which is used to detect packages when a reflector cannot be used.
- Easier Installation & Replacement
- Dynamic Zone Allocation – Provides Unprecedented Throughput Possibilities
- Easy to Configure
- Functionality to Enhance Product Flow
- Greatly Simplifies Field Wiring
- Central Location For All Wiring
- Reduced Installation Costs
- “Peer to Peer” Communication
- Easy to Reconfigure
Dynamic Zone Allocation
EZLogic® automatically adjusts the conveyor’s zone length to accommodate the length of the carton being conveyed. This provides better control of your boxes and naturally increases carton throughput, accumulation density, conveyor efficiency and system flexibility. If desired you can size zones for the smallest carton for maximum efficiency. Longer cartons introduced after installation do not obsolete the system, and the low-usage, long carton isn’t a problem.
Input / Output Power System
The input/output power system gives you the ability to install all of your “real time” inputs and outputs to the EZLogic® system, such as zone stop inputs, slug mode inputs, photo eye outputs, “jam detected” outputs and more. This centralizes all your control wiring to one spot and reduces installation costs. It can also be used for peer to peer communications. And it’s easy to reconfigure.
If you’re interested in additional information on the EZLogic System and or would like to request a quote, please use the form below to submit your request or contact your local KMH Representative at 888-564-7978.

DID YOU KNOW THAT O.S.H.A. REQUIRES A DAILY OR PRE-SHIFT INSPECTION OF EVERY FORKLIFT BEFORE IT IS PLACED IN OPERATION
But you may ask yourself “What specifically are my operators to check for?”
For your convenience, we have provided a sample daily or pre-shift checklist for your use which outlines items to be inspected. Of course, depending on your application, you may find it useful to include other items.
[button link=”http://www.kmhsystems.com/pdfs/KMH-Daily-Forklift-Checklist-Gas-LPG-Diesel.pdf” size=”medium” color=”blue” target=”blank”]LPG Daily Checklist[/button]

Even if a forklift is not in use on a particular day or shift, it’s worthwhile to note that for future reference. If an O.S.H.A. inspection ever occurred, there would be no gaps in the operation history of that lift truck.
Remember though that ALL forklift operators must be authorized and properly trained in safe operation. This is the employer’s responsibility and SuperTech can provide this necessary and O.S.H.A. safety training at your facility.
Also ensure that your personnel have read the Operators Manual carefully and made themselves familiar with the lift truck. Remind operators to wear their seatbelt too! Forklift trucks are particularly susceptible to tipovers. Seatbelt use is also enforced by OSHA.
OSHA requires a pre-shift inspection of all lift trucks before they are placed into service. Employers must be certain that no condition exists that might adversely affect the safety of the truck. If problems are found, they must be reported and the truck should be taken out of service immediately for repair. A “Warning: Do NOT Operate” Tag should be affixed to the truck, and not removed until the necessary repairs have been made.
Since pre-shift inspection is an OSHA requirement, it is important for the employer to be prepared to document that these inspections have been made on a regular basis. Review OSHA 1910.178(q)(7) and 1910.178(p)(1).
